Beer Garden Nears Completion!
We've waited a long time for this. Since our opening in March of 2010 we've had a dream of opening a beer garden in the empty lot next door. Well, that dream is finally coming true. The concrete slab has been poured for our dining patio and we've got grass growing in the more casual "beer garden" area of the lot. We've even planted a couple of Flowering Pear trees.
We're working on some of the finishing touches, such as putting the finishing trim on the doorway, lighting and shoveling in some fill dirt. The final piece to the puzzle is a custom fabricated iron fence. If you're a Peeksillian, keep an eye out for that fence to start going up...it won't be long after that.
Captain Lawrence Saison - CASK!
We have kegs (regular and cask) of Mr. Vaccaro's first ever Saison and we will be tapping the cask this Friday (5/13) at 5pm. The cask has been DRY-HOPPED WITH GOLDINGS & CASCADE HOPS and is truly a one of a kind offering. We only have 5 gallons of this Saison, so get it while it lasts...we will be tapping the regular Saison on our draught tower this week, so check our website, facebook or twitter feeds.

The Return of Johnny Cask - Friday 4/1 6pm
75 Minute IPA is simply a blend of DFH 60 Minute IPA and our 90 Minute IPA. You can even make your own - just get both beers and blend away!
So what's different about the cask version? The cask version of 75 Minute IPA takes the concept to the next level! To create the cask version, DFH retrofitted a 15-bbl tank at the Milton brewery (they've named the tank Johnny Cask) to perfectly produce this blend. The cask-version of 75 Minute gets a special whole-leaf dry-hopping session in this tank, then gets transferred to firkins and dosed with fresh yeast and maple syrup from the ole family homestead (Red Brook Farm in western Mass.).
This is a rare treat. Don't miss it.

There will also be a complimentary beer toast at Mid-night (marking our true birthday).

East Coast vs. West Coast / New Winter Menu
Our good friend Pat Fondiller of Smuttynose Brewing Co. has set up a very cool event for us here at the Birdsall House: "East Coast vs. West Coast" featuring four world class breweries, Lagunitas & Ballast Point (West) vs. Smuttynose & Victory (East). We'll be tapping beer styles produced on both coasts (IPA, Imperial IPA, Porter, etc.). We're still waiting on a final draught list, but it will be posted on our events page in the next day or two. The event will take place this Friday, February 4th at 10pm.
We've also just posted our new dinner menu for the winter, with an expanded charcuterie section, several new items.
Best of the Decade...
The Birdsall House was very flattered to be mentioned in the "Best of Westchester" issue of Westchester Magazine this summer, but when we opened the pages of the recently issued "Best of the Decade" issue of WM we were floored to see our humble little tavern nestled amongst some of the most respected restaurants in New York State (Blue Hill, Tarry Lodge, etc). It's nice when the hard work pays off.
White Birch Brewing Arrives in Peekskill!
On January 4th we will be featuring 3 beers from White Birch Brewing, a small production brewery in Hooksett, NH that opened in June of 2009. WB is dedicated to producing hand-crafted Belgian style beers and also does it's best to support the local economy of Hooksett. These beer are very limited and we were only able to get our hands on 3 kegs. Belgian Pale Ale, Hooksett Ale (Belgian IPA) & Oak Aged Tripel (aged in Pinot Noir and Merlot barrels). We will be offering a charcuterie pairing with each of the three beers from Chef Matt Hutchins arsenal of cured meats, house-made sausages and terrines. As an added bonus we will also be tapping a CASK of Captain Lawrence Imperial IPA!
Christmas and the New Year...
We pride ourselves on being a Tavern that serves locally brewed beer, but the brewing tradition in this country has roots in England and Europe and without those roots the beer industry in America (craft or otherwise) wouldn't be what it is today.
On the eve of Christmas Eve 2010 (12/23) the Birdsall House will honor the English branch of America's brewing roots by hosting holiday beers from Ridgeway Brewery, from South Stoke, England.
Check out the draught list.
Draught List Update
We've been getting some seriously fantastic beers in lately! We've just tapped Lagunitas Brown Shugga, Hill Farmstead Edward (not many kegs of this around), Troeg's Mad Elf & Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard. We also have a slew of winter/Christmas beers in the pipeline.
Sunday Brunch includes a complimentary Bloody Mary, Mimosa or Beer!
And let's not forget about Happy Hour:
$5 draughts, $1 off well drinks and $4 appetizers from 4-7pm M-F
Late Night Happy Hour from 10-Mid-night EVERYDAY: $3 pints of Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat
Big Beers Are Here
Happy Holidays! The Birdsall House draught list is getting lethal:
Dogfish Head Olde School 15%
21st Amendment Hop Crisis 10.8%
Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout 10%
Keegan Hurricane Kitty 12%.
We've also recently tapped a keg of Anchor Steam Christmas 2010.

If you haven't made New Year's Eve plans yet, check out what we'll be doing here.
